Alternative Fall Elopement in Crested Butte, Colorado
From Star Wars lightsabers, to coffin shaped ring holders, to wearing Doc Martens, Emily +Tyler pulled out all the funky stops for their Crested Butte Elopement.
We started at their cabin rentals with getting ready and detail shots, and the details were a stunning mix of alternative and nature. After a stunning first look, we headed out to a secluded lake for a ceremony as the sun set. We were graced by the presence of some unexpected wedding guests—COWS! There are tons of wild cattle around Crested Butte, and they decided to crash their ceremony. After a lakeside picnic and getting their marriage license signed by their dog, we explored the mountains a bit more. We found a secluded spot next to a river to enjoy as the sun set over the mountains, casting a perfect alpenglow on the mountains above.
These two are HUGE Star Wars fans, so after sharing a first dance, we were able to play around with their lightsabers for some creative portraits.
Their reception was something out of an alternative baddies dream. We’re talking skulls, skeleton hands, coffins, dark and moody florals, and “Til Death” themed decor all over. Genuinely I felt like a kid in a candy store—I found my people!
This elopement day was such a fun day full of all of my favorite things—nature, alternative themes, and of course, one of the most dope couples out there.
