When should you elope?
WELL, IF YOU LIKE…
Wildflowers
Wildflower season hits at different points depending on your elevation. In high altitude small mountain towns like Crested Butte, you can expect wildflower season between late June and early August.
Summertime
Colorado has a different timeframe for spring and summer than other states. The higher you go in elevation, the longer the snow sticks around. You can expect most snow to melted from trails by the end of June or early July.
Off-Roading
The higher you go in elevation, the longer snow hangs around. If you’re looking to go off-roading in high elevation, you can expect most 4x4 roads to be open by mid July. Still expect to see snow at the top though, and you may even drive through a snow tunnel, with snow piled high on either side of the road, well into August.
Fall Leaves
Fall in Colorado is simply incredible. The vibrant yellow aspen leaves make you feel like you’re in a fairy land. You can expect fall colors up in the mountains from mid September to early October. Snow comes early the higher you are, though, so don’t plan too late into October if you want fall leaves.
