Colorado Elopement in the Ouray mountains, with a bride and groom sharing vows in the snow

Elopements days put the focus back where it should be; two people fell in love and are spending the rest of their lives together. There are NO RULES to follow, and you can build it into whatever YOU want; no one else.

No matter how you plan on celebrating your wedding day, I’m here to help create a day that speaks to who you are as a couple.

 What is an elopement?

An elopement is an intimate, intentional, and meaningful wedding day that truly focuses on the couple. In other words, elopements are solely focused on the love + connection of you two. We leave the fluff by the way side, and curate an intentional day with little to no guests present.

Eloping in Colorado is one of the most intimate and intentional ways to start your married life together. Being in one of the most beautiful states in the country surrounded by sky-high mountains, evergreens and flowing rivers while trading your vows is an ethereal experience that I recommend to every engaged couple.

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN have guests at your elopement! Even I did! 15 guests or less is considered an elopement.

I specialize in curating a personal + intentional experience for my eloping couples, and promise to be your elopement guide and help you wherever you need.

Your wedding day is NOT a photoshoot

Your wedding day is SO MUCH MORE than the posed moments. Your wedding day is not your ceremony followed by photos. Your wedding day is the coming together of two lives. It is an epic climax to the journey you two have been on together. That’s the beauty of my approach to capturing your elopement day. Think of me as your third-wheel, capturing your entire day while you’re too busy enjoying it. I want to be able to tell the entire story of your elopement day from start to finish, so that there’s no question what your day was like, and you can relive the ENTIRE day, not just the highlights, forever.

If having all-day coverage hasn’t crossed your mind, I want to give you permission to dream bigger and deeper about what your wedding day. It’s not “just an elopement". It’s not just “a quick ceremony and some photos”. You deserve more than that. This is a day that you get to truly tailor to you two, and have a wedding experience that is completely unique to you two. All the laughs, all the tears, all the silly moments in between. I’m here for ALL of it.

On the actual elopement day, Emily was so freaking fun to be around, and had us relaxed and laughing so much. She was able to capture the sweet moments quietly, being sure to not interrupt anything, but was also there to hype us up when it was time to do all of the fun things.

Yes, an elopement photographer who actually eloped!

There are infinite reasons I can list to you why my husband, Ian, and I decided to elope. But first, let me tell you a bit about our perfect elopement weekend.

We traveled out to Crested Butte, CO with our families and closest friends for 5 days, and all stayed in a huge AirBnb together in the mountains. On our actual elopement day, we all woke up and had a big breakfast together, drank coffee, and watched the day wake up together. Ian and I said our goodbyes, and we went our separate ways. The AirBnb we stayed in actually had an apartment attached, so the boys went to the apartment, and the girls got ready in the main house.

As I got my hair and makeup done, we drank mimosas and ate charcuterie together. When we were all ready, I shared a first look with my dad, and then with Ian outside the front door of the house (which was a stunning view, look for yourself).

We then were sent off to elope by ourselves, and my dad even got to walk me down the “aisle” to our getaway car. We traveled to a lake and shared a private, personal. and emotional ceremony together, without an officiant, and our photographer was our only witness.

After exploring the mountains a bit more and letting it sink in that we were officially MARRIED, we went back to the house, where we ate pizza and cupcakes, had a bonfire, soaked in the hot tub, and had a good ass time together.

Why I Eloped

We wanted an intimate, nature based setting.

Ian and I are biiiiig nature buffs. We wanted to get married somewhere where the scenery took your breath away. For us, Crested Butte was the winner. We would much rather spend time outdoors than in a ballroom, so that made the most sense to us.

We also only wanted about 15 people in attendance. Yup, you can elope and still have guests! We invited our immediate families and our closest friends that we couldn’t imagine our day without.

We wanted a stress-free wedding experience.

Fun fact, Ian was a wedding DJ in college! He DJ’d over 100 weddings, so with both of us having LOTS of experience in the wedding industry, we started to notice patterns through our experience. A lot of stress went into this one day, and a lot of the times, the couple didn’t get to have as much fun as everyone else did. We did not want to worry about details and making sure things ran smoothly on our day. We didn’t want ANYONE to stress or worry about anything, but only to have a good time. The more pieces you add to the puzzle (ie, the more people you invite), the more complicated it becomes, and then you end up inviting people you don’t even want to be there, and that’s not at all what we wanted.

We value experiences over things.

Ian and I would MUCH rather spend our hard earned money on memories and experiences than material things. For this wedding weekend, we were able to house our closest people and give us and them a 5 day weekend to remember forever. We got to spend an extended amount of time soaking in the mountains, and being with our favorite people in the world.

We did NOT go into this experience hoping to save money. We just put the funds we WOULD have spent on a traditional wedding towards things that genuinely made us happy.
